No place in the world today is untouched by man. This applies everywhere, to climate, soils, oceans, plants, animals and geochemical material cycles. We humans generate effects as strong as natural forces, such as volcanic eruptions or earthquakes.
Humans have become a significant geofactor. This is why we speak of the new geological age of mankind, the "Anthropocene". In this photographic exhibition, ethnologist Christoph Antweiler shows the horror of global change, but also emphasises the aesthetics that emerge in individual phenomena. In five sections - on landscape change, our consumer behaviour, artificial materials such as plastic, increasing urbanisation and graffiti - he works out this tension. The focus is on Germany and Asia.
