Discover how ideas are transformed into success at our exhibition on the German Federal President’s Prize – an annual award for outstanding technological and scientific innovations.

Federal President’s Prize exhibition – an overview

“Turn ideas into success. For our people. For our country.” This is the guiding principle behind the works on display at the Federal President’s Prize exhibition. Featuring the 10 most recent award-winners, this exhibition highlights the scientific excellence and sustainable impact of each innovation. It presents the respective winners as personalities and role models, with their achievements honoured in the “Hall of Fame”. Awarded annually, the German Federal President’s Prize celebrates projects that progress from basic research to market-ready products, and recognises the developers of outstanding technical or scientific innovations. The award underlines the close connection between ideas and implementation, between creative excellence and economic success.

The right setting for successful ideas

Spot on! Here, visitors will find the projects awarded the Federal President’s Prize over the last 10 years. A project island in the darkened exhibition space is dedicated to each innovation – consisting of modules designed with angular cubes whose shapes constantly change from an irregular pentagram to a solid rectangle.

In terms of content, the modules are structured in a similar way: the “gateway”, an interactive element, a model or an installation engages visitors by introducing the respective topic in a fun and creative way. An introductory text acknowledges the innovation and its significance for society, while prize-winners can also be seen talking about their work on film. Exhibits, drafts and graphics on the scientific content are on display, while animated graphics look at the economic potential of each innovation. The exhibition therefore succeeds in bringing together a large variety of topics into a single space and connecting them through the use of form and structure.

At the front is the Federal President’s Prize “Hall of Fame”, which honours the award-winners with large-format black-and-white photos. Along the side, you will find digital information on the prize and a look back at the innovations since 1997 that no longer have their own module at the exhibition. There is also a projected image of all the names of those who succeeded in being among the best as nominees.
