Hartmut Raffler is an honorary professor at the TU Munich. Prof Raffler graduated in mathematics and computer science from the TU Munich. Subsequently, he took on different tasks in the field of cell system physiology at the University of Ulm and in the field of statistics at the Society for Radiation and Environmental Research (Helmholtz Zentrum München). From 1992 to 1995, Prof Raffler was responsible for the department 'Software and Engineering', Siemens AG, Corporate Technology. From 1995 to 2009 he was Vice President and Head of the Research Department 'Information and Communications', Siemens AG, Corporate Technology. His main topics of research included intelligent systems, smart networks, IT security, human-machine cooperation and knowledge management.
From 2010 to 2011, Prof Raffler was the German member of the Expert Commission for the Interim Evaluation of the 7th Framework Program (FP7) of the EU. Furthermore, he was a member of the 'Executve Steering Boards (ESB) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology Digital (EIT Digital)'. Prof Raffler was also a member of various scientific boards (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Max-Planck-Gesellschaft).
