Cessna 195
Four-seater sports and business plane.
890 of this type were built between 1947 and 1954. Cessna is the world’s biggest aircraft manufacturer in terms of the number of planes built. The about 180,000 Cessnas produced so far represent a world record. The American company Cessna is one of the oldest aircraft manufacturers. Clyde V. Cessna (1880-1954), the founder of the company, built his first airplane in 1911. He founded his own company, the Cessna Aircraft Corporation, in 1927. After the Second World War, the company finally achieved its breakthrough as the leading manufacturer of 2-6 seat sports and business aircraft. The Cessna 195 is already showing the typical lay-out of the single-engined aircraft of the post-war period: High-wing design and landing gear with steel-spring main struts. This model was the last Cessna to use the proven radial engine. Later models used flat-four or flat-six engines.
