The "Puffing Billy" was the world's first operational steam locomotive. From 1814, it was used at a coal mine in Northern England. The locomotive in our museum is a replica from 1906, meticulously recreated with every detail of the original, even the wear and scratches from use. And the best part: Our "Puffing Billy" is still operational today. It is started up several times a day. Experience this ancestor of all steam locomotives in motion and hear its unique sound.
