Reinventing Cycling

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the DB service, the Transport Center showcases the diverse aspects of the successful "Bikesharing" model—its beginnings, developments, and technological innovations for connected mobility worldwide.

Convenient for occasional cyclists and easing city traffic: Shared bicycle usage makes mobility available at all times and conserves resources. Since the first rental bikes rolled out in Munich in 2000, bike-sharing has become an essential mobility concept and a key contributor to the transformation of transportation. You can hop on a bike almost anywhere; in Germany, for example, you can find over 13,000 bikes from the provider 'DB Call a Bike,' one of the pioneers in bicycle rental systems, across 80 cities and municipalities.

The special exhibition “Bikesharing: Reinventing Cycling,” in collaboration with Deutsche Bahn Connect GmbH, focuses on the development of shared bicycles and their significance for the transformation of mobility.
